Frenchtown

Frenchtown is Tallahassee’s soulful historic district. Frenchtown's deep legacy, cultural resilience, and revitalization journey are central to Tallahassee’s story. Frenchtown was established after the Emancipation era and emerged as a one of the earliest Black middle-class communities in Florida. It was a popular stop on the Chitlin’ Circuit, hosting legends like Ray Charles. Frenchtown is anchored by preservation efforts, local events, and the Renaissance Center. It is also just minutes from Downtown, Florida State University (FSU) and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU).
