Buyers Rank Good Neighbors as A Top Priority - 1 in 5 Americans would pay $10,000 or more above the asking price of a similar home to avoid bad neighbors - 82% said having good neighbors matters just as much as price and/or location - Source: Anytime Estimate

According to a recent study from Anytime Estimate, here are some quite surprising stats about how important having good neighbors is for buyers:

  • 1 in 5 Americans would pay $10,000 or more above the asking price of a similar home to avoid bad neighbors
    • 1 in 8 would pay $20,000 more
  • 82% said having good neighbors matters just as much as price and/or location
  • 25% of homeowners have spent at least $1,000 dealing with bad neighbors
  • 25% say that they have never had an issue with a neighbor
  • 45% would consider moving if they didn't get along with their neighbors

So, what makes a good neighbor? According to the same study, Americans say a good neighbor is:

  • Trustworthy (65%)
  • Quiet (51%)
  • Maintains their home & yard (47%)
